When you hear the name Ray’s, you think great food. That tradition started as early as 1964 when Ray Ressel’s parents opened a drive-in restaurant in Kelso. The business evolved into serving pizza and steak. While that business closed in the mid-70s, the spirit didn’t die. Thirty years later, Ray was able to revive the tradition. His family owned business has been operating in Kelso for many years. The main restaurant is now housed in the old Farmers and Merchants Bank of Kelso, built in 1920. The building was acquired by Ray’s grandfather in 1934 after the bank closed. The Ressel’s decided to renovate the historic building back to its original 1920’s appearance or at least close to it. The building showcases the original tin ceiling, marble floors and partial marble walls, and the original bank vault with steel door that is still intact.
The menu at Ray’s offers many elegant choices along with the steaks and pizza that Ray’s House of Pizza and Steaks used to serve. The Whiteford House next to the main restaurant offers additional seating in a quiet and cozy setting. The restaurant also has an outdoor seating area where they host special events from May to October. Call 573-264-1115 to contact Ray's of Kelso for reservations or questions.
